Dr. McArthur is a native of Cincinnati.  She grew up on the west side where she attended Oak Hills High School.  During her undergraduate work, she studied abroad in Switzerland.  She also became involved in a behavioral study at the Indianapolis Zoo.  It was there that she developed her passion for elephants and her interest in reproduction as the zoo prepared to set up a breeding program for this endangered species.  In vet school, she was involved in several clubs, including Pet Therapy and the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association.  During her freshman year at Purdue, she acquired 2 of her Siamese cats - Chelsea and Casey - a seal point and a blue point.  She recently added a third cat to her household - Peaches - a tortoiseshell.  She also has a dog, Belle, a 4 year old beagle mix.
